The Egyptian Authority for Unified Procurement "UPA" held on Thursday evening its second preparatory meeting on the launch of the 2nd edition of Africa Health ExCon 2023, under the theme “ Your Gate To Innovation and Trade”. The upcoming edition will take place under the auspices of H.E. Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi during the period from June 7th to 10th in Cairo.
UPA Chairman, Maj Gen. Bahaa El Din Zeidan, stated that the first edition of Africa Health ExCon hailed in success thanks to the patronage of President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi; along with the great support of several entities and ministries, namely the ministries of finance, health, communications, foreign affairs; as well as UPA, Universal Health Insurance Authority (UHIA),The General Authority for Healthcare Accreditation & Regulation (GAHAR), and the Egyptian Medical Association.
He paid tribute to the role of these entities in launching Africa’s largest medical event ever, as well as the efforts of the organizing entity to which the success of the first edition is attributed.
He added that Africa Health ExCon would pursue propelling multi-sector communication to stimulate the role of Africa Health ExCon, as the first of its kind sustainable business platform bringing together all parties. The event also shapes forward- looking perspective to promote the access to medical, pharmaceutical, and healthcare services, as well as developing the scientific research system in Africa.
For his part, Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Health and Population, lauded the prime focus given by H. E. President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to “Africa Health ExCon”, since it stimulates scientific research and investments in Africa’s health sectors, primarily pharmaceutical and medical devices industrial maintenance services.Africa Health ExCon also brings an opportunity to share insights and unify the potentials of the African countries’ health systems.
He also highlighted the role of Africa Health ExCon in harnessing a unified vision about the medical and healthcare sectors in Africa, bringing an important healthcare platform for experience exchanging and knowledge sharing. Africa Health ExCon also open an investment gateway for healthcare sector; as it promotes a competitive edge foe all the international companies operating at the health sector in Africa. Further, Egypt also keenly pursues exchanging experiences and investment opportunities with all the neighbouring countries in Africa to establish unflappable healthcare sector amid the repercussions resulted from the pandemic outbreak and chronic diseases.
He added that the preparatory meeting hosted discussions about cooperation, visions about setting robust criteria and programs to compliment Egypt’s success and achievements; as this would be achieved through the booming launch of the second edition of Africa Health ExCon 2023 to present the aspirations that had turned into realities since the first edition, with regard to upgrading and reforming the healthcare system.
Health Minister also said that the ministry has been working hand-in-hand with the UPA for supporting healthcare sustainability in the African countries, and providing the continent with the necessary expertise to establish resilience in healthcare systems, especially amid the emerging slowdown resulted from the pandemic.
The minister extended thanks to UPA chairman, Bahaa El Din Zeidan, all the ministries and entities contributed to organizing the first edition of Africa Health ExCon, praising their collaborative efforts in organizing the second edition of Africa Health ExCon this year, as per conductive strategy and in such a manner worthy of Egypt’s regional and international position.
At the same context, Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, commended the success of the first edition of Africa Health ExCon last year. He also referred to the significant role of the event in handling challenges facing Africa’s healthcare system, highlighting that the event would be a inter- African dialogue platform to exchange experiences among the African countries and coordinate the global companies’ efforts for addressing the challenges related to the healthcare system in Africa.
He also stressed the importance of of participation of all universities, university hospitals, centers, institutes and research bodies in Egypt at the 2nd edition of the conference, so as to propel joint cooperation establish an effective role for the African healthcare system in achieving inter-African development.
On the other hand, Dr. Tag El-Din, the Advisor to the President of Egypt for health and prevention affairs, stated that Africa Health ExCon’s regional objective is to enable Egypt to entirely capitalize on the pharmaceuticals, medical supplies and services.
He also referred to Egypt successfully managed during the last 3 years to overcome the consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic, driven by the strategic planning, the patronage of the Egyptian president, the support of the ministries and public entities, which reflects on the significance of the conference in the actual localization of manufacturing medical devices and equipment and attract international companies to fulfil the health sector’s demands.
He also affirmed that Africa Health ExCon is planned to be held next June to support Egypt’s strategic supplies of medical equipment, as well as executing cooperation strategies between the State and the private companies; which will contribute to industry localization and maintenance services in Egypt.
Dr. Adel Adawy, President of the Egyptian Medical Association, stated that the organizing entities of the 2nd edition of Africa Health ExCon aims at issuing recommendations as well as achieving positive results to address the challenges facing the health sector in Africa.
He added that the success of Africa Health ExCon is supported by the patronage of President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi, as it strengthens Egypt’s position and open new African markets, through reaching healthcare partnerships.
He also highlighted that scientific associations would also take part in sessions to cover all the challenges related to medical supplies and drugs, welcoming the recommendations that would be issued by the participating entities to shade more light on the conference’s potential outcomes and providing real solutions to the sector’s problems.
Dr. Tamer Essam, Chairman of Egyptian Drug Authority, stated that the objective of these preparatory meetings was to bring more insights about the demands of various medical and industrial sectors to be fulfilled during the second edition of Africa Health ExCon this year.
He also affirmed that Africa Health ExCon was fully supported by the State-level institutions and industry partners to harness Egypt’s continental role in both medical and pharmaceutical sectors.
Dr.Ahmed El-Sobky, President of the General Authority for Health Care,e, Assistant Minister of Health and Population, and General Supervisor of the Comprehensive Health Insurance Project, stated that first edition of Africa Health Excon was momentum driven by Egypt's full support.
He also affirmed that the conference reflected on the collaborative efforts exerted by both public and private entities, representing a gateway for Africa’s health sector’s leadership. It is also rendered a platform reflecting on Egypt’s manufacturing capacities with regard to locally made medical supplies, as well Egypt’s position as medical logistics center, as the expansion in the sector became a necessity.
He added that this year’s edition would cover various topics, on top of which are system management, economics, governance, and innovation in healthcare system. He stated that the patronage of H. E. President Abdel Fattah Al Sis propeled Egypt’s continental leadership in this sector.
It is worth noting that preparatory meeting witnessed a signing ceremony, as UPA signed cooperation protocol with the Saudi German Hospital to release Africa Health Excon Award, as an independent jury will be formed to identify the selection criteria, as this jury will comprise members of African States' bodies and institutions.

نظمت الهيئة المصرية للشراء الموحد والإمداد والتموين الطبي وإدارة التكنولوجيا الطبية، مساء أمس الثلاثاء، ثاني المؤتمرات التحضيرية الخاصة بإطلاق النسخة الثانية من معرض ومؤتمر صحة أفريقيا «Africa Health ExCon 2023» «بوابتك نحو الابتكار والتجارة»، والذي يقام تحت رعاية فخامة السيد الرئيس عبدالفتاح السيسي رئيس الجمهورية، خلال الفترة من 7 إلى 10 يونيو المقبل بالقاهرة.
قال اللواء بهاء الدين زيدان رئيس الهيئة المصرية للشراء الموحد والإمداد والتموين الطبي وإدارة التكنولوجيا الطبية، الجهة المنظمة لمعرض ومؤتمر صحة أفريقيا، أن هناك العديد من العناصر التي دعمت نجاح فعاليات النسخة الأولى من المؤتمر بداية من رعاية فخامة الرئيس عبد الفتاح السيسي رئيس الجمهورية، ومرورًا بسبل الدعم الكبيرة من جميع الجهات ومختلف الوزارات وفي مقدمتها وزارة الدفاع ووزارة المالية ووزارة الصحة ووزارة التعليم العالي، بالإضافة إلى وزارات الاتصالات والخارجية والهجرة، وكذلك هيئة الدواء، هيئة التأمين الصحي الشامل، الهيئة العامة للاعتماد والرقابة الصحية، الهيئة العامة للرعاية الصحية، مشيرًا إلى أن هذه الجهات قامت بدور فعال فى تنظيم الحدث الطبى الأضخم على مستوى القارة، بجانب التنظيم الرائع من قبل الشركة المنظمة، الأمر الذي ساهم في سلسلة النجاحات المحققة على صعيد النسخة الأولى.
وأضاف أن مؤتمر ومعرض «Africa Health ExCon» يدعم أطر التواصل بين مختلف جهات المنظومة في القارة ويمثل أول منصة أعمال مستدامة تجمع كافة أطراف منظومة القطاع الصحي تحت مظلة واحدة، كما يعمل على صياغة رؤية مستقبلية موحدة تدعم توفير الخدمات العلاجية والدوائية وسبل الرعاية الصحية وتطوير منظومة البحث العلمي في القارة الأفريقية.
ومن جانبه؛ أكد الدكتور خالد عبدالغفار وزير الصحة والسكان، أن فخامة الرئيس عبدالفتاح السيسي، يدفع بقوة ويولي اهتمامًا كبيرًا ودعمًا حقيقيًا، لمعرض ومؤتمر صحة أفريقيا «Africa Health ExCon 2023»، حيث يمثل قوة علمية واستثمارية بكافة الأصعدة الصحية، وعلى رأسها مجالات الصناعات الدوائية والصيانات الطبية، مشيرًا إلى أنه يُعد فرصة لتبادل الرؤى وربط الإمكانيات الصحية في دول القارة الأفريقية معًا.
وأوضح أن المؤتمر يأتي في إطار تعميق الرؤية الموحدة على مستوى القطاع الطبي والصحي بالقارة الأفريقية، بالإضافة إلى كونه منصة هامة لتبادل الخبرات والمعرفة فى مجال الرعاية الصحية، منوهًا إلى أنه بوابة لجذب الاستثمارات الصحية وخلق القدرات التنافسية بين كبرى الشركات العالمية بالمجال الصحي بأفريقيا، مؤكدًا أن الدولة المصرية، تسعى لتبادل الخبرات والفرص الاستثمارية مع كافة الدول الأفريقية الشقيقة لبناء منظومة صحية قادرة على التعامل مع الأزمات فى ظل معاناة أغلب دول القارة من انتشار الأوبئة والأمراض المزمنة.
وأضاف أن المؤتمر التحضيري يشهد تعاون كبير وتبادل نقاشات ورؤى لوضع معايير وبرامج قوية تستهدف استكمال خطوات النجاح والانجازات التي حققتها مصر، وذلك بإطلاق ريادي وقوي للنسخة الثانية من المؤتمر 2023، مشيرًا إلى «المعرض والمؤتمر الطبي الأفريقي» سيشهد خلال دورته المقبلة، مناقشة ما تم تحقيقه على أرض الواقع منذ نهاية الدورة الأولى، والتى نجحت فى صياغة احتياجات أفريقيا لإصلاح وتحديث منظومة الرعاية الصحية.
ونوه وزير الصحة والسكان، إلى أن الوزارة، تعمل جنبًا إلى جنب مع هيئة الشراء الموحد، بهدف مساعدة الدول الأفريقية على استدامة الخدمات الصحية وإمداد القارة بالخبرات اللازمة لبناء المرونة في أنظمة الرعاية الصحية خاصة فى ظل تباطؤ معظم الاقتصاديات نتيجة الجائحة.
ووجه الوزير الشكر للواء طبيب بهاء الدين زيدان رئيس هيئة الشراء الموحد، وجميع الوزارات والجهات والقطاعات القائمة على تنظيم المؤتمر والمعرض في نسخته الأولى، مثمنًا جهودهم وحرصهم على التكاتف معًا لتنظيم وتنفيذ المعرض بنسخته الثانية هذا العام، وفقًا لخطة ورؤية استراتيجية منظمة تليق بمكانة مصر محليًا ودوليًا.
وفي سياق متصل؛ أشاد الدكتور أيمن عاشور وزير التعليم العالي والبحث العلمي، بنجاح النسخة الأولى من معرض ومؤتمر «Africa Health ExCon» خلال العام الماضي، مشيرًا إلى الدور التنموي الهام للمؤتمر في مواجهة التحديات والمشكلات التي تواجه القارة الأفريقية على المستوى الصحي، مؤكدًا أن المؤتمر سيكون بمثابة منصة حوار بين الدول الأفريقية لتبادل الخبرات فيما بينها، والتنسيق مع الشركات العالمية للمساعدة في وضع حلول للمشاكل الصحية على مستوى القارة.
وأكد على أهمية مشاركة كافة الجامعات ومستشفياتها الجامعية والمراكز والمعاهد والهيئات البحثية المصرية والأفريقية في فعاليات النسخة الثانية للمؤتمر، بما يحقق المزيد من التعاون وتبادل الخبرات فيما بينها، مشيرًا إلى أن هذا هو أحد أهم السبل للوصول إلى منظومة للعلوم الصحية في القارة، تساهم بدور فاعل في عملية التنمية والنهضة التي تمر بها مختلف دول القارة.
ومن جانبه؛ أضاف الدكتور عوض تاج الدين مستشار رئيس الجمهورية لشؤون الصحة الوقائية أن معرض ومؤتمر صحة أفريقيا «Africa Health ExCon» يمثل هدف قومي يدعم قدرة مصر على تحقيق أقصى استفادة على صعيد قطاع الأدوية والأجهزة والخدمات الطبية.
أشار إلى أن مصر نجحت خلال أخر ٣ سنوات من تخطي تحديات المرحلة وأزمة كورونا بدعم من التخطيط الاستراتيجي ورعاية رئيس الجمهورية ومختلف الوزارات وأجهزة الدولة، وهو ما يعكس أهمية ذلك المؤتمر نحو توطين حقيقي لصناعة الأجهزة والمعدات الطبية وجذب الشركات العالمية لتلبية مختلف متطلبات الدولة على صعيد تلك الصناعة.
وأكد أن فعاليات المؤتمر المستهدف عقده في يونيو المقبل، تدعم متطلبات الدولة خلال المرحلة الحالية على صعيد دعم الاحتياطي الاستراتيجي من الأجهزة الطبية، وتنفيذ أطر تعاون استراتيجية بين الدولة ومختلف المؤسسات والقطاع الخاص في ذلك المجال الحيوي، بما يساهم في توطين الصناعة ومراكز الصيانة في مصر.
أوضح الدكتور عادل عدوي رئيس الجمعية الطبية المصرية أن جميع الجهات القائمة على فعاليات النسخة الثانية من مؤتمر ومعرض «Africa Health ExCon» تستهدف الخروج بتوصيات ونتائج إيجابية تساهم في حل التحديات التي تواجه المنظومة الصحية في أفريقيا.
وأضاف أن نجاح مصر في تنظيم مؤتمر طبي يوجه للقارة الأفريقية، تحت رعاية فخامة الرئيس عبدالفتاح السيسي رئيس الجمهورية، يعطي دعم كبير للمؤتمر ويساهم في دعم مكانة مصر على صعيد القارة الأفريقية، كما يفتح أسواق في أفريقيا للقطاع الطبي المصري، عبر عقد شراكات على مستوى الرعاية الصحية.
وأشار إلى أن الجمعيات العلمية - والتي تمثل الجانب العلمي - تستهدف عقد جلسات تستعرض كافة التحديات على مستوى قطاع المستلزمات الطبية، والأدوية، مشيرًا إلى أن تقديم مزيد من المقترحات من جانب الجهات المشاركة سيساهم في تسليط الضوء على الموضوعات المقترحة لدعم مخرجات المؤتمر، وحل المشكلات التي تواجه القطاع على أرض الواقع.
قال الدكتور تامر عصام رئيس هيئة الدواء المصرية، إن المؤتمرات التحضيرية التي يتم عقدها تمهيدًا لإطلاق المعرض والمؤتمر الطبى الأفريقي تمثل فرصة هامة لمعرفة احتياجات القطاعات الطبية والصناعية المختلفة، وتلبيتها في النسخة الثانية من المؤتمر والمعرض لهذا العام.
وأكد أن معرض ومؤتمر «Africa Health ExCon» يحظى بدعم كافة مؤسسات الدولة وشركاء الصناعة ليعزز من دور مصر على المستوى القاري في القطاعين الصحي والدوائي
أوضح الدكتور أحمد السبكي رئيس الهيئة العامة للرعاية الصحية، مساعد وزير الصحة والسكان، المشرف العام على مشروع التأمين الصحي الشامل، أن مؤتمر «Africa Health ExCon» ولد عملاقًا منذ نسخته الأولى في ظل الدعم الكامل من الدولة المصرية.
وأشار إلى أن المؤتمر يؤكد مفهوم الدولة الشامل بمنظوماتها الحكومية والخاصة، كما يعد بوابة ريادة القطاع الصحي في أفريقيا، ومنصة لإبراز قدرات الدولة المصرية التصنيعية في مجالات التجهيزات الطبية محلية الصنع، ومركز لوجستي لصناعة الرعاية الصحية، مؤكدًا أن التوجه لأفريقيا أصبح حتمي.
وأضاف أن المؤتمر خلال العام الجاري يستهدف تسليط الضوء على موضوعات هامة في مقدمتها إدارة النظم الصحية، واقتصاديات الصحة، والحوكمة في الرعاية الصحية، والابتكار في مجال الرعاية الصحية، مشيرًا إلى أن رعاية فخامة الرئيس عبد الفتاح السيسي رئيس الجمهورية لهذا الحدث تمثل دفعة قوية لمصر نحو ريادة القطاع في القارة.
ومن الجدير بالذكر أن المؤتمر التحضيري شهد توقيع الهيئة المصرية للشراء الموحد والإمداد والتموين الطبي وإدارة التكنولوجيا الطبية، بروتوكول تعاون مع المستشفى السعودي الألماني، لإطلاق جائزة «Africa Health ExCon award» على مستوى قطاع الرعاية الصحية في أفريقيا، ومن المستهدف تشكيل لجنة مستقلة لتحديد المعايير التي سيتم بناءًا عليها اختيار الفائز، على أن تضم هذه اللجنة أفراد من هيئات ومؤسسات دول أفريقية.
